Good news: this time next month is the spring equinox, marking the official end of winter. Spring is the season of rebirth and renewal in Chinese medicine. Appropriately, it’s when many people seriously consider their plans for the rest of the year and start to put them in motion (are you among them?).
One of the reasons for this is surely because on 20 March (at 9.00am to be precise) the length of daylight matches the length of night. Every extra minute of daylight supports you to raise your energy levels inviting you to be more active and productive. So even though we associate the beginning of a new year with 1 January, paradoxically it’s not the optimum time for such deliberations. Spring is. Interestingly, until 1752 and the introduction of the Julian calendar, the new year actually began on the spring equinox - to align the year with the seasons.
With springtime so near, now is a good time to set some time aside to make plans for it so you’ve a springboard for the rest of the year (see what I did there?). If there is more about your life you’d like to change or accomplish imagine if you had a springboard to help you plan out the next couple of years, or even the rest of your life? On Headspace Coaching Plus’s personal development retreats we give people such a springboard and get them bouncing on the tip of it, and even diving in, literally to the refreshing waters off Greenbank quay (a 10 minutes walk down the road).
On our ‘Re-create your life’ group retreats you spend three days in the company of up to five others, identifying the life you want to lead, learning how to become the person you want to be, and starting on making it happen. There are walks and talks, a delicious group meal, and opportunities to check out vibrant Falmouth, with the atmosphere more akin to a group of friends holidaying together than a course at a hotel. If two’s a company more is a crowd, a personal coaching retreat is three days devoted specially to you, and however you want to use it. Whether you’re a single mum or award winning businessman (I’ve hosted both) anybody can benefit.
What’s more since the venue doubles as a B&B, you can easily extend your stay to make the most of Cornwall during springtime. It’s a special time to be here. Cliff-tops, gardens, and woodlands are awash with colour, beaches and towns uncrowded, and there are plenty of events too such as food festivals at Porthleven (21 – 23 April) and St.Ives (12-14 May) the famous Padstow ‘Obby ‘Oss (1 May), and Helston Flora Day (5 May), to coincide a visit with. Spring is also usually when Cornwall gets its best weather.
